Bali: The healing island of the gods
Enchanted Bali
For a thousand years royal families from across the island of Bali would send their sick to Ubud to be healed. This tradition has survived to this day and people from all over the world have been flocking to Bali in the hope that somehow or some way they can be cured of their ailments. Bali has become a desirable destination for tourists seeking spiritual serenity.
Blessed with the enchantment of nature, beautiful beaches, traditions that are ancient and abiding, the moment you arrive on the island, you can feel the energy and atmosphere that radiate from everywhere.
Gods and goddesses
The Balinese believe in gods and goddesses and that they exist in the elements of nature. In Bali, the human world and the spirit world are constantly interacting. Hinduism in Bali is practiced by 90% of the population and everywhere you look, women are making offerings of exquisitely coloured flowers and rice to these gods and goddesses, blessing all the things of the world.
The people of Bali are very open and foreigners are welcomed into their world. There is nothing quite like the traditional purification ceremonies and elaborate cremations and if you get a chance to experience them, you simple cannot miss out.
Traditional purification
Purification baths in the sacred water temple Tirtha Empul is an experience never to be repeated anywhere. The sacred springs of this Holy Water Temple are said to have been created by the God Indra and they possess curative properties.
Healing
Bali is famous for its long history of traditional healing therapies. Visitors to this peaceful island should visit a healer or a Balian. Different Balian healers come from different villages and each healer uses Balinese traditional healing practices using herbs and spices, holistic therapies and ancient wisdom to cure physical and mental illness. Traditional healing modalities include natural herbal remedies, massages and energy work. Each Balian specialises in their own specific types of healing, depending on their lineage and ancient teachings. The type of healing ranges from organ and bone health to emotional wellbeing and spiritual health.
Joy professionals
The Balinese people are the joy professionals. Quick to smile and easy to laugh, the Bali people are experts at living a life of joy and fulfilment. Bali people live in the moment and do not regret past events nor do they dwell on the future and worry about what has yet to happen. Perhaps there is nowhere else on earth that is a better example of truly living in a joyful state than in Bali where life is interwoven with spirituality, delight in daily ritual and an appreciation of all that surrounds them and this is why Bali is so special.
